Born in San Antonio, Texas, Alissa Hollimon discovered photography at a very young age. She has pursued her passion culminating to the creation of her photography business, Hollimon Photography.
Alissa gained her skills and knowledge while working at her college paper that was distributed to 45,000 students daily. She also worked for the Associated Press covering sports and events. Alissa interned for freelance photographer John Harrington in Washington D.C during one of her summer breaks. She gained valuable experience from her photography assignments and classes in college.
Alissa currently spends most of her time working for Zachry Group and the NBA. Alissa is the corporate photographer for Zachry Group which is a worldwide construction and engineering company. Alissa photographs all types of their projects such as power plant construction and maientance, US Embassys, oil refineries, and even their NASCAR sponsored car. Almost weekly she is sent throughout the country to shoot their current projects.
Starting in 2007 Alissa has had the opportunity to work for the NBA and help cover games as well as off the court events. Alissa loves working in the intense environment and values the relationships she has built with veteran photographers. She loves learning from them and is always looking for opportunity to extend her knowledge and skills.
Although Alissa works on all types of photography projects, her true love is humanitarian aid photography. Alissa works with various aid and non profit organizations all over the globe. Her images portray intense emotion and sometimes the awful truth about the conditions throughout the world. She passionately believes that education and opportunity is the only way to end poverty and human suffering. Along with the help of others, Alissa started her own non-profit, Arise Africa. Arise Africa focuses on providing a life for those living in poverty that God desired for them. That means being self sustaining, educated, safe, serving, and a having a healthy happy childhood. Alissa brings her knowledge and experience in all of her photography. She constantly educates herself with further instruction as well as experience.
Alissa currently lives in Dallas. While not working, she enjoys any activity that is outdoors. She frequently escapes to her family ranch in South Texas with her chocolate lab, Ella. She enjoys running and can also be found on her road bike around White Rock lake. She has two nephews whom she loves to spend time with.
